University College Dublin (UCD) was established in 1854 by John Henry Newman. It's currently ranked among Europe’s leading research-intensive universities. UCD consists of five colleges and 18 research institutes and centres. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas including agriculture, architecture, business, education, engineering, humanities, law, medicine, science and veterinary medicine.
UCD is Ireland’s largest university with over 30,000 students. It's one of the most popular destinations for Irish school-leavers. The main campus is located on a 365 acre site in Belfield, 4km south of Dublin's city centre. It has a wide range of modern learning and sports facilities. On campus accommodation is provided for approximately 3,000 students.
