College
Great college experience in the best city! Would not change anything about my decision to attend.
Area of Study
Commerce - economics.
Strong business school, some great lecturers and good facilities.
Big class sizes are a drawback but to be expected in this stream.
Not much direction given by college in the decisions around 3rd year specialisation.
Still a solid course, I went on to complete a masters with the college.
Campus Facilities
Library is deserted most of the year, lucky to get a seat around exams.
Lots of computer labs around the college, generally not an issue.
College bar is hard to pass by, some top day sessions had!
Accommodation
Corrib village is not pretty but it's perfect for first years, everyone in together!
Private accommodation is mostly good value, Newcastle area is ideal for college and lots of students around. College not much help in finding accom, Galway advertiser is best bet.
City Life/Social Scene
The best college night life going. Great city that you feel at home in.
Student Services
on par with any other college really
Clubs and Societies
Lots of options for whatever you're into and they actively recruit in fairness. Great opportunity to try something new.
Sports Facilities
Great facilities, gym, classes and climbing wall. College has private membership when compared to other colleges as ran as private kingfisher gym.

College
NUIG is a great choice of college and I'd recommend it to anyways considering going there. Very much a college that caters for everyone! One of the main criticisms I had about the college while I was there (2006 - 2010) was some facilities weren't the best. But the college have been investing a lot in recent years to modernise the campus! And the campus is only a 5 or 10 minute walk from the city centre.
Area of Study
I studied Information Technology. Best thing about the course is you are getting into the IT industry which is a very good career choice at the moment. I found employment straight away after graduating. But if you are considering it make an effort to familarise yourself with programming first as that is a huge part of the course and I dont think the college prospectus really prepared me for what would be involved and it wasn't exactly what I had expected!
Campus Facilities
The facilities weren't the best when I started but since then they have built an extension onto the library, new gym, new Engineering building and a lot more. Dont know if it has changed in the last few years but when I was there is was sometimes hard to get a few computer on campus (especially coming up to exams!). So more computer suites are definitely needed.

NUIG has a bar on campus which is great! They've loads of events and gigs throughout the year in it.
Accommodation
Accommodation is fine. Most will recommend Corrib Village for first year! The apartments there are very basic but its great craic and a good place to live if you want to meet new people! From 2nd year on I'd suggest Cuirt na Coiribe or Dun na Coiribe. Both are about 10 min walk from the college but Cuirt na Coiribe especially is very nice.

Lived for 1 year in private accommodation but I much prefer the student villages. Only negative about the student accommodation is that they are so expensive...
City Life/Social Scene
Whats not to love about Galway! Its the quintessential student city! There is so much to do in Galway and it really would suit any type of person. Loads of bars and clubs which are usually full on a Wednesday or Thursday! But even if your not big into that there's loads to do...bowling, karting, comedy shows, etc
Student Services
Never really had much involvement with the Student Union but NUIG does provide an on campus medical centre and the Fees Office are usually good if you need any help relating to the Grant.
Clubs and Societies
Signed up to a few in my first week but never really got involved in any. But they have so many clubs/socs that you should be able to find one or 2 that interests you!
Sports Facilities
NUIG had a gym which was built about 7 years ago and they have a good set up with pitches in Dangan (beside the campus) and sailing club as well on campus.
Overall Comments
Not much more I can add really! If NUIG has the course you're interested in then I think it's a college you should have at the top of your list!
